Things are about to get seriously chaotic at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, as Bad Day At The Office brings its explosive first-person action to the big screen.

The film, starring John Hannah, Radha Mitchell and Tamer Hassan, made its world premiere as part of EIFF’s Midnight Madness strand and is now heading for a special 4DX screening at Cineworld on Wednesday 19 August at 8.30pm.

The story follows Karl, played by John Hannah, who wakes up in a wrecked hotel room with a splitting headache and absolutely no idea what has happened.

There’s just one problem — Karl doesn’t remember who he is.

Things take a very dark turn when he discovers a dead body in the bathtub, followed shortly by two police officers knocking at his door.

From there, Karl finds himself caught in a terrifying and increasingly chaotic race for survival, joined by hotel maid Molly, played by Radha Mitchell. With a price on his head and seemingly half the city hunting him down, Karl is forced to rely on skills he doesn’t even remember having as the pair attempt to uncover the mystery behind his missing memories.

And this is definitely not your typical action film.

Bad Day At The Office is shot entirely in the style of a first-person shooter video game, putting audiences right into the middle of the action. Expect fast-paced mayhem, dark humour, explosive set pieces and plenty of cinematic carnage.

EIFF Festival Producer Emma Boa described the film as an “anarchic, ultra-violent and hilarious thrill ride”, calling it the “ultimate Midnight Madness experience”.

With John Hannah at the centre, alongside Radha Mitchell and Tamer Hassan, the film brings together a seriously impressive cast for what promises to be one of the more outrageous experiences of this year’s festival.

And if watching the action unfold from a first-person perspective wasn’t enough, the 4DX screening is set to take things up another notch, putting audiences right into the middle of Karl’s chaotic journey.
